After a long hiatus, the Rambler has returned from hibernation. He will try to keep from falling asleep again. Today’s will be short and sweet.
ENTRIES UPDATE
The final version of the Columbia meets entries has been sent in and is available on the team website and on the wall near the family mailboxes.
The tentative version of the Retriever A meet (mid May) is posted on the website and on the wall. Please check your entries, and if you see problems or have questions, let me know IMMEDIATELY. We will be sending in our final version on Friday, and once that is e-mailed, you cannot change anything, and you are liable for any entry fees, even if you decide not to attend.
TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALL GAME…
The York Y swimming team is having a team outing, away from the pool! (Imagine that.) On Sunday 17 June, we are going to a York Revolution baseball game. We have been promised that the field will be ready and that the weather will be sunny and perfect. We will be sitting on the third base side. The game starts at 2:05 p.m. Tickets are $ 7. We have reserved 70 seats, available to the whole family (not just swimmers) on a first-come, first served basis. If you are interested, please get your money in quickly; make checks out to York YMCA Aquatic Club.
PROPERLY ATTIRED
Reminder: we are a TYR team, and all York Y swimmers should be racing in TYR suits. There will be no exceptions, so don’t bother to ask.
GOING CAMPING
Beginning at the end of this month, I am going to be offering a series of five “mini-camps” focusing in the water on stroke technique and out of the water on major topics in swimming, like nutrition, goal-setting, racing psychology, etc. While the primary target of these camps is swimmers from around the area who are not on our team, they are open to York Y team members as well.
This is a major recruiting tool for our team: we introduce swimmers who don’t know us to who we are and why we are special. I have prepared flyers for the camps, and I am asking all of our families to help me distribute them to competitive swimmers. Each of our families will have a handful of flyers put in their mailboxes at the pool. Please spread these around to swimmers you know from other programs. If you need more, just ask; I’ll make plenty (or at least, I’ll have my helpers make plenty; thanks in advance, helpers).
